computers suck but now we're stuck with them

the interwebs: when did they go wrong?

it wasn't so bad until 2007/08. things got really bad with the invention of the smartphone and the connection of the previously unreached parts of the world in the late 2010s. to the rest of us, it became clear, once and for all, that most people in the world do not live interesting lives worth paying attention to, moreover they have absolutely nothing of worth to say

previously the internet self-selected because you needed to invest £1500 in a clunky windows 98 box that would be obsolete in 2 weeks, and you had to configure dial up networking, and you had to type your pop3 and smtp server details into your email client, and you waited up to 10-15 minutes for what passed as "interactive" shockwave web pages to load

even boomers on ebay knew html, yet now the retarded youth don't even know what a 'folder' is

basically only weird and wonderful people would put up with such ardouous tasks to get connected, and that was who you'd find online

even websites in the early web 2.0 days required effort and technical competence to operate - hard enough that a tourist would be put off, but not so tricky that an afternoon or two couldn't pick up its principles. think forums with bbcode, php scrips on web servers, or html customisation on myspace.

now there is no choice because the formula that caters to the lowest common denominator has been cracked by the tech companies. worse with the 'smartphone' and the app store, you don't even need a desktop, every app looks and works the same, and everything will be monetised.

in cyberspace, there is nowhere to flee from the suffocating masses and their insatiable need to be fed attention. they will stalk the info-superhighway, preying like reavers, forever. their 'attention' monetised the engagement platforms while the fun parts of the internet died. the sheer extra numbers means that the reduction to the mean has come harder than ever before, and coupled with the formulaic apps, the doom scrolling killing all sense of moving through space, makes the web psychological torture. no more is it a place of escapism. if you wanted it 'easier' you are guilty of this.

who?? did it?

it was all by design. we know it was REDACTED! the free dis-semen-ation of information was too big a threat to their power... I can't say XXXXXX §*(*$&%%eaeỀÇⱯǼ more

what do

the answer is to download the internet and share it only with a select few

techmongoloy

unlike mac os 9 this bird supported pre-emptive shitting

blandness

back in the day people cared enough to make their desktops look like this. now you can choose only 'light mode' or 'dark mode', and when apple tries to do something cool and new like liquid glass it is quickly crushed by endless bitching from the myopic masses. fuck 'readability', make it look pretty

shut it down
